NHAI Achieves Four Guinness World Records in Andhra Pradesh

The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has established four new Guinness World Records for its rapid road construction efforts in Andhra Pradesh. These achievements, spanning two separate dates in January, underscore significant progress in the development of the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor.

Record-Breaking Feats on NH-544G

On January 6, NHAI secured two world records near Puttaparthi. The first recognized the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, covering an impressive 28.89 lane kilometers. This involved a 3-lane wide, 9.63 km section completed within a 24-hour period.

Additionally, on the same day, NHAI set a record for laying the highest quantity of bituminous concrete, reaching 10,655 metric tonnes in 24 hours. Both these global firsts were achieved on the six-lane Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor project.

Further Milestones Reached

Building on this momentum, the authority clinched two more Guinness World Records on January 11. These new milestones include the continuous laying of a massive 57,500 metric tonnes of bituminous concrete.

The second record on January 11 involved continuous paving of 156 lane kilometers. This equated to a 3-lane wide 52 km section, significantly surpassing the previous world record of 84.4 lane kilometers (a 2-lane wide 42.2 km section). These feats occurred across Package-2 and Package-3 of the corridor.

Project Scope and Vision

The Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor is a 343 km, access-controlled, six-lane highway. It is designed to offer safe, high-speed, and scenic travel. The project includes 17 interchanges, 10 wayside amenities, and a 5.3 km tunnel, with a 21 km stretch traversing a forest area.
