Mahindra's December Sales Soar 27%, But Exports Dip, Shares Slide

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. announced robust year-on-year growth in its December sales and production figures, though export volumes contracted. The automotive giant posted total sales of 85,501 units, a substantial 27% increase from the 67,252 units sold in the same month last year. Production mirrored this upward trend, climbing 25.4% YoY to 68,992 units from 55,015 units.

Export Volumes Contract

Despite strong domestic performance, total export volumes dipped by 9.3% year-on-year, falling to 2,849 units compared to 3,142 units in the previous December. Domestic sales for commercial vehicles, however, registered a healthy 34% growth, reaching 24,786 units.

Model Performance Highlights

The Scorpio was a standout performer, with sales reaching 15,313 units, up from 11,686 last year. The Bolero recorded a nearly twofold increase, selling 10,611 units for a 79.21% YoY rise. The XUV 3XO also showed strong momentum with 9,422 units sold, marking a 34.60% increase. Lifestyle SUVs, including the Thar and Thar ROXX combined, contributed 9,339 units, up 21.93%.

XUV700 Transition and EV Push

The premium XUV700 model saw a significant sales decline, selling 7,337 units, down from 453 units in the prior year's December. This dip is attributed to the launch of a new edition, the XUV 7XO, which has already garnered around 1,000 sales and is set to commence deliveries imminently. Mahindra's electric portfolio continued its expansion, with the XEV 9e recording 2,154 units, the BE 6 adding 1,481 units, and the recently launched XEV 9S selling 491 units.

Stock Movement and New Launches

On a month-on-month basis, total sales decreased by 9.57% from November 2025 figures. At midday Monday, shares of Mahindra & Mahindra were trading 1.4% lower at ₹3,624.30 on the BSE. The automaker's stock has seen a 3.35% decline over the past five trading sessions. The company recently launched the XUV 3XO EV, priced from ₹13.89 lakh, with deliveries scheduled to begin on February 23, 2026.
