India's Electronics Exports Surpass ₹4 Lakh Crore Amidst Growth Surge
Overview
India's electronics exports have surged past ₹4 lakh crore in 2025, marking a significant milestone with strong growth in mobile phone manufacturing and iPhone production. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw projects continued expansion, fueled by four upcoming semiconductor plants, boosting jobs and foreign exchange earnings.
Electronics exports from India have surged past the ₹4 lakh crore mark for 2025, signaling a robust expansion in the sector. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced the milestone, attributing the success to strong domestic production and significant foreign exchange inflows.
Mobile Dominance Fuels Export Growth
The country's electronics production reached an estimated ₹11.3 lakh crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year, with exports contributing ₹3.3 lakh crore. The mobile phone industry currently leads this charge, accounting for substantial production and export volumes. Industry bodies predict mobile production will reach $75 billion (approximately ₹6.76 lakh crore) by the end of the current fiscal year, with exports projected to exceed $30 billion (around ₹2.7 lakh crore).
iPhone Manufacturing Reaches New Heights
Apple's contribution to India's export success is particularly notable. iPhone exports from India reportedly hit ₹2.03 lakh crore in 2025, a dramatic increase from ₹1.1 lakh crore in the calendar year 2024. This expansion is partly driven by global supply chain realignments and India's growing manufacturing capabilities.
Semiconductor Plants to Fuel Future Growth
Looking ahead, Vaishnaw stated that the momentum is expected to continue into 2026, bolstered by the planned commercial production from four semiconductor plants. This development is crucial for strengthening India's position in the global electronics value chain and creating further employment opportunities. Market analysis suggests that high average selling price (ASP) segments, particularly in the US market, are driving export value growth, with Apple, Samsung, and Motorola being key players. According to International Data Corporation, Apple's domestic supplies also reached a quarterly record in Q3 2025, indicating strong market performance.
