Tata Motors is set to introduce the significantly updated 2026 Tata Punch micro-SUV in India tomorrow, January 13. This marks the first major refresh for the model since its initial launch, bringing a host of exterior and interior enhancements, new features, and an important addition to its powertrain options. Pre-bookings are anticipated soon, with deliveries slated to commence by month's end.
Streamlined Variants and Fresh Styling
The facelifted Punch will feature a simplified variant structure, reduced from ten trims to six. It adopts styling cues from the Punch EV, presenting a refreshed exterior. Key design updates include slimmer DRLs, a revised bumper with prominent cladding, new LED headlamps, and connected LED taillamps. The side profile remains similar, distinguished by new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Enhanced Interior and Technology
Inside, the cabin layout is familiar but augmented with modern technology. A new free-standing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system takes center stage, complemented by a two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated elements and touch-based climate controls. Buyers will also find a digital instrument cluster, a single-pane sunroof, automatic climate control, and premium sound system. Safety receives a boost with six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS, tire pressure monitoring, a 360-degree camera, and rear parking sensors.
Powertrain Options Expand
The existing 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 88 PS and 115 Nm, continues to be offered. The CNG variant uses the same engine, tuned for 73 PS and 103 Nm, exclusively with a manual gearbox. The most significant powertrain news is the introduction of a new 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. This unit churns out 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed manual transmission. The naturally aspirated petrol engine will be available with both manual and AMT gearboxes.
Expected Price Adjustment
While the outgoing Tata Punch ranged from ₹5.50 lakh to ₹9.30 lakh (ex-showroom), the updated model is expected to command a premium. Analysts anticipate prices to start around ₹6 lakh, climbing to approximately ₹9.50 lakh, reflecting the added features, revised styling, and the new turbo-petrol engine option.
