Sales Surge Drives Strong 2025 Performance

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has announced a substantial 36% leap in its vehicle sales for 2025, delivering 117,000 units. This marks one of the company's strongest performances, attributed to a resilient industry and rising consumer demand across various segments.

'Make in India' Strategy Pays Dividends

The company's strategic focus on its 'Make in India' initiative, coupled with deeper localization efforts, has been a key driver. This approach underpinned significant growth not only in domestic sales but also in exports, which reached 1.59 lakh units in the previous year. SAVWIPL also celebrated crossing the milestone of two million made-in-India vehicles manufactured at its facilities.

Piyush Arora, Managing Director and CEO of Skoda Auto Volkswagen India, highlighted the purposeful progress rooted in consistent execution and a long-term vision for the Indian market. "The strength of our Make-in-India strategy -- supported by deeper localisation, scale and a robust product pipeline -- is visible across manufacturing, sales and exports," Arora stated.

Global Manufacturing Hub Aspirations

Looking ahead to 2026, SAVWIPL plans to expand its product portfolio and dealership network while solidifying India's position as a high-quality global manufacturing hub. The company anticipates India will play an increasingly vital role in the group's global growth trajectory.

The success in 2025 was significantly bolstered by the MQB-A0-IN platform, specifically engineered for India. This platform forms the basis for all locally produced Skoda and Volkswagen models. Furthermore, cumulative exports exceeded 715,000 units, confirming India's strategic importance as a production base for the group's international markets, including new ventures in the GCC and ASEAN regions.

Brand Performance Highlights

Within the group, Volkswagen maintained its leadership in the premium sedan segment with the Virtus, capturing a 38% share. The limited edition Golf GTI also sold out rapidly. Skoda reported an impressive 107% growth, driven by strong demand for the Kylaq and the return of the Octavia RS. The group enhanced its customer reach by expanding touchpoints to 700 across its brands.

Premium brands within SAVWIPL also saw activity. Audi launched special editions of the Q7, Q3, and Q5, alongside the RSQ8 Performance. Lamborghini introduced the Temerario, while Porsche expanded its sales network and experiential offerings. Bentley officially joined the SAVWIPL portfolio, opening new dealerships in Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Delhi.

The company aims to build on this momentum in 2026 with numerous product launches planned, focusing on customer engagement and sustainability initiatives.
